Your weekly update:
1) 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat - 2024 was a great success, but 2025 was even better! Such fun!
2) Our session (the ruling council) met this past Sunday; we aim to meet on the 4th Sunday of the month, every month, but timing sometimes forces us to shift --- like November. We will combine the November and December meetings on Sunday, December 7. The teams or committees of the church do the vast majority of the work, focusing on the details within their umbrella of ministry, and the session supports by connecting their work with the following of the Spirit in the ministry to which God entrusts to us.
3) This coming Sunday (11/2) is our All Saints' Day remembrance as well as the first Sunday of the month when we come to the Lord's Table. We continue our sermon series 'What Disciples Do' with a focus on "Commune." That is what we do - we share communion (aka fellowship) with one another and with all the Saints who have come before us, as we are filled with the Spirit to go into the world and share that communion with all of God's beloved we encounter (which is everyone!).
4) Halloween celebration is this Friday --- remember it is designed to be fun for all, so whether the person looks too old, has trouble with fine motor skills, is unable to eat any of the candy due to allergies, or is unable to dress up because of sensory issues, seek out ways to share the joy that is the fun of Halloween!
5) November 9 is our Celebration Sunday and chili cook-off. Last year was great fun and opportunity to share food and conversation. We will celebrate the planned giving you have submitted so the leadership of the church can plan the budget for the 2026 year of ministry. What you communicate as your planned giving, allows us to pool the funds together in order to plan best how we will engage the ministry of Christ through FPCL - including worship, fellowship, service, mission, outreach, and staffing. Please submit your planned giving by or on November 9 --- remember, you can always give more ;o)
6) Thanksgiving Dinners --- this will be the 18th year we are providing full meals on Thanksgiving day, and there is much work to be done. Please sign up to participate in this wonderful ministry - our goal this year is to provide 320 meals, and we need you to help achieve this!
As you go out:
May God bless and keep you!
May God's face shine upon you and be gracious to you!
May God's countenance lift you up and give you peace!
